Common Questions
How long does it take to arrive?
From your placement of order and payment of deposit, the room should arrive within 4-6 weeks.
How long does it take to install?
We allow 2-3 days for installation.
Will my house be a mess?
It shouldn’t be, but it depends on your house – every home is different. Sometimes cables have to travel further through existing rooms, or pipework in the garden is more extensive than expected.
How much does it cost?
We will quickly email you costs as soon as you fill in our online form.
What happens if I need to take it away?
This is easy, and you should be able to sell the room on – we will also explore a buy-back option if we have someone near you who wants a used room at a reduced price.
Does it require Planning Approval?
Generally no. We have designed these rooms with Bell Architects Ltd, who advise on every quick-room location. We hope to be able to deliver your quick-room without Planning Approval, but we can resolve that question for you.
Are they disabled friendly?
Yes. Each unit has been designed to the ‘Lifetime Homes’ requirements. See below for further info regarding input from other specialists.
Can my OT (occupational therapist) have input?
Yes, of course, but the rooms are designed to be speedy and ‘off-the-shelf’, if you need amendments done to the units, this will affect cost and timescale, but it shouldn’t be unreasonable.
What finishes are possible on the outside?
Virtually anything! We are offering a range of paintable render, oak, finished boards, brick, zinc. But the options are wide, we are happy to discuss any ideas with you.
Why is there a gap between house and room?
The gap is a design solution to resolve the foundations, and to reduce the likelihood of any dampness penetrating the house as a result of the addition of the room.
How are the foundations constructed?
The room is supported on four or six mini ground piles. These are installed easily into your garden or driveway, as long as services permit. (sometimes a sewer can be in exactly the wrong place!).
What kind of heating does it use?
The room is extremely energy efficient and will not require much heat.
Are the electrics included?
Yes, see the detailed layout for information – each room comes with adequate sockets for your needs – if you require more, just ask.
Does it have wireless capability for broadband?
If you have wireless in your house, then yes, it should reach into the quick-room without too much trouble – it is possible to purchase a stronger wireless aerial from most broadband suppliers if required. The quickroom comes pre-fitted with one hard-wired connection for a computer.
What is the floor finish?
Floor finish is either oak boards or carpet. Any other option needs to be discussed and agreed, and may have a cost implication.
How are the inside walls finished?
Plasterboard, drylined and painted onto the interior boards – this means it is possible to hang pictures or shelves anywhere in the room.
How are the ceilings finished?
Plasterboard, drylined and painted.
